The program set of “Engaging Chicago: The Diverse Experience” was developed by the Initiatives for Community Development Fellows in the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Studies. It was created in response to student interest of wanting to engage communities across the different neighborhoods of Chicago as well as a desire to learn more about the people, culture, and history of the Chicago neighborhoods. Through these sets of programs, one can expect that the participants will grow as professionals within the field of psychology while learning about diversity in becoming more multiculturally competent professionals. The engagement of future practitioners with those in the communities where they serve will better assist and facilitate interpersonal communication and networking skills, benefiting both the students and potential future clients.
