2008

May 27: Johanna Atienza is the newest member of the Los Angeles Campus team. Johanna will serve as admission counselor.

May 24: Clinical Psy.D. student Jonathan Spitz has been named the Naomi Ruth Cohen Fellow for the 2008–2009 academic year. He will take over for fellow Clinical Psy.D. student Brandy Baker who was the 2007–2008 fellow.

May 19: Academic Affairs welcomes Angela Alford as its new administrative manager.

May 16: Becky Stimson joins the President’s Cabinet as The Chicago School’s new vice president of institutional advancement.

May 12: The Office of Admission at the Chicago Campus welcomes Chris Moffitt. Chris will serve as admission operation assistant.

The Financial Aid team at the Chicago Campus announces the addition of Kenyette Thomas as its new financial aid counselor.

May 5: After three years of service to the Office of Human Resources as a graduate assistant, Curt Allee has a new role as a human resources generalist. Curt will complete a doctorate in Business Psychology from The Chicago School later this year.

April 28: April 28: OPT announces the addition of Robert Cleve as its new training coordinator.

April 21: Jay Burke is the newest admission counselor for the Los Angeles Campus.

Debra Warner joins the Los Angeles Campus faculty. She will be teaching courses in the Forensic Psychology Department.

Alejandro Baltazar joins the Chicago Campus special events team as catering assistant.

April 15: Brigit Olsen joins the Los Angeles Campus faculty. She will be teaching courses in the Industrial and Organizational Psychology Department.

April 14: Dr. Romita Sillitti joins the school’s Office of Placement and Training as associate director. She is OPT’s liaison to the Forensic Psychology Department.

April 11: The Accounting Department welcomes Jeremy Berryhill as its new payroll accountant. Jeremy is responsible for processing the payroll for all staff, faculty and student workers. Jeremy will also be responsible for all retirement plan contributions and provide support to our accounts payable area which includes petty cash and purchase orders.

April 3: Joe Romero joins the Los Angeles Campus as associate director of enrollment services.

March 27: IR Director Kathryn Talley won the “Silver Medal” for her entry in the Association for Institutional Research’s Limerick Contest. Her award-winning work was published in the March edition of e-AIR.

March 25: The Los Angeles Campus welcomes Linda King as its office manager and Dr. James Iaccino as full-time Clinical Psy.D. faculty. Dr. Nancy Davis has been promoted to associate vice president of academic affairs from chair of online and blended tracks. She will oversee the Center for Academic Excellence, Executive and Professional Education, the Library, and Academic Development.

Associate Chair of Online and Blended Tracks Darcy Tannehill has been promoted to dean of The Chicago School's Online Campus.

As it will now focus solely on serving external constituents, Director of Corporate Education and Consulting Services Michael Barr will assume the role of director of Executive and Professional Education (EPE). EPE will include continuing education opportunities, leadership development through a leadership institute, and consulting services.

March 19: Lytashia Grove has been promoted to director of financial aid.

March 17: Chicago School Receptionist Jamie McLaren has been promoted to facilities assistant.

Nisha Gabriel joins The Chicago School family as administrative assistant. She will support Associate Vice Presidents Magdalen Kellogg, Deane Rabe, and Dina Schenk. Nisha may be reached at ngabriel@thechicagoschool.edu.

February 25: Admission Operations Assistant Laura Chavez has been promoted to admission counselor. Laura may be reached at laurachavez@thechicagoschool.edu.

February 18: Clinical Psychology Department Chair Michele Nealon-Woods, Psy.D. '00, has begun her duties as dean of the Los Angeles campus. Additionally, Director of Admission Heather La Belle is assuming a new role as director of enrollment services for the Los Angeles Campus. Yareli Meza, associate director, has been promoted to director of admission and will remain at the Chicago campus.

February 1: Assistant Professor Sandra Georgscu is now a full department faculty member for the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program.

December 10: The Clinical Psychology Doctoral welcomed two new members to its team. Lukasz Konopka, Ph.D., has been hired as department faculty. Previously he was an affiliate faculty member. Meanwhile, Courtney Hill, M.B.A., joined the department as its department manager. December 5: Online and Blended Track Director Mark Kassel will now serve the ExCEL programs as instructional designer.  

December 4: Director of Admission Heather La Belle has joined the California team as director of enrollment services. She will begin her new duties February 1, 2008.

November 12: Online and Blended Track Chair Nancy Davis' co-authored a book titled "Fire Under My Feet: A Memoir of God's Power in Panama" is currently being translated for publication in Indonesia by Dioma Media (Orbis).

October 19: Allison Creekmur has recently been promoted to coordinator of regulatory affairs. October 17: Dr. Jennifer Thompson announced that she will be stepping down from department chair of both the I/O and Business Psychology programs. She will refocus on scholarship, teaching, and consulting opportunities while remaining a Chicago School faculty member. Associate Chair Iliana Kwaske will fill this role while a national search is conducted.

October 16: Megan Jamieson joins The Chicago School community as a student services advisor. She may be reached at mjamieson@thechicagoschool.edu.

October 14: Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Pat Breen has been named vice president of academic affairs. Dr. Breen joined the school in 2006 as vice president of executive and professional education (EPE). With this appointment, EPE will join the Academic Affairs Division. October 10: The Chicago School is pleased to announce the 2007 Commencement to be held on Friday, June 13. The ceremony will again be hosted at the Civic Opera House, 20 North Wacker Drive.  Detailed information regarding commencement and participation will be articulated in early spring.

September 10: Career Services and Community Partnerships hosted a Job and Volunteer Fair, welcoming 40 community and professional partners, 14 alumni, and 249 students.

Tamba-Kuii Bailey, Carol Schwera, and  Mary-Morag Sutherland have joined the Clinical Services team as a post-doctoral fellows.

Benjamin Rottschafer has been promoted to Assistant Director of Admission. After receiving an M.A. from The Chicago School in 2006, Ben has been serving as an admission counselor.

August 31: Effective September 1, James Campbell will be the new associate vice president of finance.  James was an integral part of the school’s most successful audit to date. He will continue with his current duties and will assist the President and Chairman’s Task Force on Scope and Mission in finding future opportunities for The Chicago School.

Each instructor will continue to teach and advise students within their departments.

May 16: The Information Technology Department has added two new members to its team. April 11: Human Resources announces the launch of a new information portal for all faculty and staff. eEmployee will serve as an electronic resource center containing documents, forms, and information specific to employees.

April 10: Assistant Department Manager Queen Washington, has been promoted to department manager for the Clinical Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis program. Queen had previously been assisting Cheryl Heck with both the ABA and Forensic departments. Queen's office has moved to the fourth floor, room 431. Her extension and email address remain the same. Cheryl Heck will continue as the department manager for the Forensic Psychology Department.

April 3: The Business Psy.D. and I/O Departments have a new department manager. Tabitha Hudson joined The Chicago School staff as department manager for the two programs as Ashley Ray begins working solely with School Psychology. During the transition the two managers will be sharing office space and a phone line - room 638, extension 6648. March 20: James Campbell has recently joined The Chicago School as Director of Accounting. James brings with him 15 years of experience in accounting. March 14: The Chicago School welcomes Derick Cobb as its new Help Desk Support Lead. Derick brings with him 20 years of experience specializing in end user support. March 12: Jed Sullivan, acting director of information technology, has accepted the position of director of IT. Jed comes to The Chicago School from Agility Computer Network Services, and brings an enormous amount of technical knowledge to the school. March 9: The Business Psychology department welcomes Dr. Ilianna Hevia Kwaske as program faculty and associate department chair. She received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology and will soon be chairing a symposium on individual assessment with the Society of Industrial/Organizational Psychologists (SIOP).  Dr. Kwaske has been teaching at The Chicago School as an adjunct faculty member since 2003.

March 5: Rita Vazquez is the new advisor in Student Services. Rita comes to The Chicago School with several years of experience working in higher education. Her responsibilities in Student Services will include, transcript and academic record processing, degree and enrollment verifications, and the coordination of Commencement events. March 2: Dr. Lukasz Konopka, associate faculty member in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program, was recently promoted to full professor. Dr. Konopka's contributions to The Chicago School and the field of psychology have proven outstanding during his past 13 years with the institution. Dr. Konopka will be participating on the Advisory Board of the department’s new initiative with Child and Adolescent Psychology.

February 26: The Chicago School annouces the creation of a new President’s Cabinet committee: the Fellowship and Scholarship Administration Committee (FASAC).  

The primary purpose of The Chicago School fellowship/scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to qualified prospective students with documented financial need.  Continuing the work of the ad-hoc Internal Scholarship/Fellowship Task Force of 2005-2006, FASAC will ensure that The Chicago School fellowship/scholarship program is administered in support of the mission of the school.

The committee will be chaired by Lytashia Grove, assistant director of financial aid. The other committee members include Amanda Kim, Virginia Quinonez, Heather LaBelle, Michelle Hoy-Watkins, and Ken Fogel.

January 29: Judy Beaupre is The Chicago School’s new director of alumni relations and development. Judy most recently served as the vice president of institutional advancement for St. Augustine College in Chicago. She has also worked in development at Lyndon State College in Vermont and at Mercy College in New York. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Mercy College. Judy will work closely with the school's Grant Development Committee as well as with the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees. Judy can be reached at extension 8998.

January 17: Mary Reid was recently promoted from admissions counselor to assistant director of admission at The Chicago School.

January 16: The Chicago School Department of Student Accounts and Department of Financial Aid recently underwent organizational changes. Student accounts has moved to the Finance Department, which allows the Financial Aid Department employees Lytashia Grove, Leticia Chavez, and Carrie Cruz to focus on providing efficient and effective financial aid services to our new and continuing students. The new student accounts advisor, Spencer Ham, is now responsible for payments, payment plans, adjustments and other activities that relate to a student’s account and is located in room 723.

January 10: Michele A. Graham, M.Ed., is The Chicago School’s new assistant director for career services.  Michele recently earned her master's degree in education from Loyola University. January 9 : Four Chicago School professors were recently promoted to new ranks. Drs. Christoph Leonhard and Gary Walls are now full professors with Drs. Marie Ciavarella and Michele Nealon-Woods being elevated from assistant to associate professor. Read the story.

January 5: The Department of Admission announces the addition of Elyse Allen as the new administrative assistant. Elyse has been working as a temporary employee for the past several months and will transition into a full-time employee on January 29.

January 2: The Chicago School welcomes Lytashia Grove as its new assistant director of financial aid. Lytashia comes to the school with nearly five years experience assisting students and parents in the financial aid process. She can be reached at  x6602 or lgrove@thechicagoschool.edu.

2006

December 4: The Chicago School welcomes Alison Gillings as the new research analyst in the Office of Institutional Research. After graduating from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Alison began the fall 2006 semester at The Chicago School as a Clinical Psy.D. student. She currently shares an office with the director of institutional research, Kathryn Talley, in room 727.  Alison can be reached by email at agillings@thechicagoschool.edu.

November 27: The Chicago School welcomes Deondra Bullock as its new human resources generalist. Deondra most currently worked as a human resources manager at Menards in Hammond, In. She resides in room 734 and can be reached by emailing dbullock@thechicagoschool.edu

November 13: Kathryn Talley, director of The Chicago School’s Office of Institutional Research, co-authored a paper with her former colleagues at Adelphi University entitled “Considering Leaving Before They’ve Even Started:  An Examination of Freshmen at Risk for Transfer.”  The paper was presented at the North East Association for Institutional Research 33rd Annual Conference, held November 4-7 in Philadelphia.

November 1: Jill Glenn, LCSW, is The Chicago School’s new director of community Partnerships. Glenn comes to the school from ChildServ where she was most recently their director of group homes. Her primary responsibilities include the oversight and development of Chicago School community partners (e.g., Erie House, ChildServ, Lawrence Hall, Heartland Alliance, etc.), specifically seeking how to incorporate and build field placements, service learning and community-based research, and job opportunities.

November 1: The Chicago School congratulates Lacey Newman, who as has been promoted to manager of the Executive Office and will continue to assist Vice President of Finance Jeff Keith. Newman will be managing the receptionist and student workers in the Executive Office.

The school also welcomes Karla Nagy as the receptionist to the Executive Office. She is now in charge of scheduling the Conference Room (713). Community members should send any 713 scheduling requests to her at x8972, or knagy@thechicagoschoool.edu.

October 27: James Liautaud, inventor, entrepreneur, emotional intelligence pioneer, and the namesake of the UIC Liautaud Graduate School of Business, has been named The Chicago School’s 2007 Commencement speaker. Liautaud will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Psychology degree at the June 15 event. Read the story

October 26: Dr. Kelly Ducheny, Clinical Psy.D. department chair, will be the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology's (NCSPP) new representative to the American Psychological Association (APA) Committee on Accreditation (CoA). Dr. Ducheny joins the CoA after leading The Chicago School Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program’s successful efforts to earn seven-year APA accreditation.

October 26: The Chicago School’s old web domain, www.csopp.edu, and email addresses, name@csopp.edu, are set to expire on November 18. The organization the governs .edu addresses, Educause, only grants a six-month overlap between old and new addresses. The Chicago School launched its new website and url, www.thechicagoschool.edu, on June 1.

Community members are urged to spread the word about the expiration date and distribute their new email, name@thechicagoschool.edu, to contacts might still be using the old address. For more information email helpdesk@thechicagoschool.edu.

October 18: The Chicago School welcomes Allison Creekmur as the new administrative assistant to Vice President of Administration Tamara Rozhon.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Literature, and is interested in not-for-profit work and underserved populations. October 17: The Chicago School is pleased to announce the 2007 Commencement to be held on Friday, June 15. This season’s ceremony will once again be hosted at the Civic Opera House, 20 North Wacker Drive. The event will begin promptly at 1 p.m. with a reception immediately following until 4 p.m. Detailed information regarding commencement and participation will be articulated in early spring.

October 13: The Chicago School Student Association is providing 32 partial scholarships to the Illinois Psychological Association 2006 convention for the day of Friday, October 27.  These scholarships are a first come first served. Email ipags_il@hotmail.com for more information.

October 13: The Chicago School Library introduced its new online system at an open house reception. The new system allows students, staff, and faculty to search the library’s books, journals, and online holdings. Books also can be put on hold, renewed, and return dates can be checked online from any computer via the Internet.

September 28: The President's Cabinet announces recent promotions and new Chicago School organization structure. Read the letter.

September 22: The Chicago School is supporting the 14th annual Hispanic/Latino Mental Health Week Campaign which will take place between October 1 -7, 2006. This annual campaign is designed to promote education about, increase awareness of and prevent mental illness in the Latino/communities. It will include a conference as well as screenings and lectures. The conference will take place at the Oak Lawn Hilton on October 5 and 6. Faculty members, staff, and students who are interested in Latino mental health issues are encouraged to attend and/or volunteer. September 20: The Chicago School releaes new accounting forms for faculty and staff. The new forms are for check requests, expense accounts, and documentation for school American Express users. The new forms can be found on eEmployee. Use your standard Chicago School username and password to access.

September 5: HLC Steering Committee members Michael Barr, Julie Krahl, Deane Rabe, Tamara Rozhon, and Susan Sances meet to review plans for an electronic and physical Resource Room.  All materials related to the request for continued accreditation, including policies and procedures, formal agreements, plans, reports, and promotional literature, will be placed in the Resource Room and made available to the HLC visit team.  After the visit, the Resource Room will be maintained as a data archiving site for The Chicago School.

September 5: Queen Washington is announced as the new program assistant for Forensic Psychology and M.A. Clinical (ABA). Washington was previously an administrative assistant with the school's Office of Placement and Training. Her office is located in room 535.

September 1: Heather La Belle begins the 2006-2007 academic year as the school's new director of admission. La Belle, who joined the school in 2001, previously served as associate director of admission before her promotion.

August 31: The Chicago School welcomes Dr. Jessica Cerniak as its new Associate Director of Training. Dr. Cerniak comes to the school by way of the University of Denver, Illinois Masonic and Bridgeview Challenger Day School.  She will be the school's Office of Placement and Training liaison to the Psy.D. program.

August 30: The Chicago School announces Common Hours. Starting in fall 2006 no classes will be held on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. and Thursdays from 5 – 6 p.m. Common hours were implemented to make it easier for Chicago School community members to schedule and attend activities such as colloquia, town hall meetings, and other special events. August 29: Dr. David Pyles, ABA associate program director, is named to the editorial board for the Journal of Behavioral Analysis in Health, Sports, Fitness and Medicine.

August 26: Chicago School graduate, Dr. Orson Morrison, Clinical Psy.D. '03, will have an academic article, "COLAGE: Providing Community, Education, Leadership, and Advocacy by and for Children of GLBT Parents,” published in the November issue of the Journal of GLBT Family Studies.

August 21: The Chicago School welcomes Tyree Bolden as the school's newest admission counselor. Bolden comes to the school after a year-long internship with the Big Ten conference. He previously worked as a sales executive with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

July 31: Kathryn Talley, Ph.D., joins The Chicago School to oversee the Office of Institutional Research. Dr. Talley taught sociology for fifteen years at North Central College in Naperville, Ill., before moving to the institutional research field.  Her most recent position was assistant director of research, assessment, and planning at Adelphi University in New York.

July 25: Yazmin Salgado is named program manager for Executive and Professional Education at The Chicago School. Her new responsibilities include supporting course and program development, communicating with and assisting students, coordinating projects with internal and external partners, and ensuring processes to evaluate and improve the programs and services of Executive and Professional Education.

July 24: The Chicago School IT department welcomes Miguel Gonzalez as a new system administrator. Gonzalez comes to the school from Orbitz.

June 22: Dr. Michelle Hoy-Watkins is promoted to the rank of associate professor. According to Forensic Psychology Program Director Perry Meyers, the “promotion was well earned and well deserved as Dr. Hoy-Watkins has demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, advisement, mentoring and service throughout her tenure in the Forensic program at CSOPP.”

June 12: After an exhaustive national search, The Chicago School names Dr. Pat Breen as vice president for Executive and Professional Education. Read the news story.

June 9: Dr. Anne Galioto, Clinical Psy.D. ’04, named director of the Office of Placement & Training. Dr. Galioto returned to The Chicago School to complete her postdoctoral fellowship after obtaining her doctoral degree, and she then accepted an associate director position in 2005. According to Dr. Deane Rabe, director of Academic Support Areas, “Her service to the school has been outstanding, and she brings an exceptional range and depth of leadership and educational skills.”
